I paid off my car three weeks ago, which means that, precisely two weeks ago, every scary warning light on my dashboard started lighting up like a pinball machine. I dropped the car off Friday, and the mechanic pronounced it totally unsafe to drive.
Somehow though, the planets aligned with the Julian calendar and my work schedule to allow me a four day weekend with no car, no obligations, and no Valentine. These being the perfect conditions for a creative storm of making and sewing, I took full advantage of the solitude.
I made a new cat– Snickers, designed and made a new sloth (sloth 2.0)– Moe, made a faux leather pillow for my couch– BlackStar, and started a David Bowie doll with his own little leather jacket made from scraps. Snickers and Moe are available in my etsy shop. The Bowie stuff is MINE.
Look at this wiener dog, ha! I rather like the way the ears turned out, and I love the fabrics—the print on the front totally looks like wagging, right?
As the first non-feline critter I’ve designed for my new line of stuffies, I think this wiener dog turned out rather well. I want to make other animals too— otters and bears and badgers and such… and also I’ve started to think about making clothes for them… woodland fashion, YASSS
Right now I’m developing a pattern for a large-bodied superfluffy variety of cat— your Maine Coons, Himalayans, Ragdolls and other whatnots. Keep an eye on my Etsy shop— the holidays are coming, eh?
It’s been a busy week. Hey look, I made some jellyfish. And a squid.
They’re partially made from recycled materials (earrings & sundry jewels) and the crystal beads throw off little rainbow spots in the sunlight. Bet they’d look awesome on a Christmas tree…
because jellyfish. just sayin’.
Available on Etsy.
I’ve been making cats. I’m still pretty excited about it even though I’ve only sold one so far. I need to sell one more to break even on the all the fabric I bought…
I even made a cat reading a book. His name is Wordsworth, and I traded him for a batch of handmade soap. I need soap.
I also made a wiener dog. Because that is just the sort of person I am. You’re the first to see him—I haven’t given him the full photo sesh yet, that’s what I’ll be doing this weekend.
Check out my Etsy shop, and maybe click “favorite” on a few things, hmm?. it’ll be fun for you and totally make my day.
